Between two planks of wood is a three dimensional stroll through a woods of cut paper trees. This coptic bound book features several pages of hand cut silhouettes of woodland shrubs and trees. As the pages turn so does the scenery, like the scenery changes as a hiker advances deeper down the trail.
Tung oil brings out the luster of the woodgrain veneer on these two wooden book covers. A handcarved medallion on the front cover hints at the content within. Utilizing jewellers glasses and the sharp point of a blade, twigs and stems of forest trees are delicately cut freehand to create this lacey woodland scene. The scenery changes as the pages are turned, mimicking the transition of perspective as one ventures deeper in the woods. The text block of white cut pages is buffered from the wooden covers by two inner coverings of 100% rag paper.
This book measures 5.25" x 7" x .5" and was the only copy created.
