The Virginia Foundation commissioned me to create a graphic for their annual thank you card. They wished to have an illustration that would encompass a wide variety of the arts encompassed by the humanities. I proposed an open book held by two hands with a sparkling variety of icons representing the humanities leaping from the pages. The design was approved and letterpress printed onto hundreds of cards for the coming year.
